GAA 

Ulster Football Championship 

Experienced Ulster contenders Kilcoo showed their nerve in a clinical second half performance to outlast Fermanagh champions Erne Gaels. Leading by 3 at half time, the Down champions attacked the Fermanagh side in numbers, turning over kickouts and punishing with goals from Ceilum Doherty, Eugene Branagan, Paul Devlin and Shealan Johnston. 

In the other semi-final, there will be a refixed game between Newbridge and Scotstown. Despite the pitch being deemed fit to play and the first half taking place, the decision was made to abandon the game in the sense of player welfare. 

Munster Football Championship

Dingle impressed in their 19-point victory over Mungret St Pauls. The Limerick champions are coming off their first ever senior championship and may have seen their run in the provincial championship as bonus territory. The Kerry champions looked in sensational form, a host of scores coming from players such as Dylan (0-2), Conor (2-02) and Paul Geaney (0-3). 

St Finbarr’s booked their date to meet Dingle in the final after a brilliant team performance to see off Éire Óg Ennis. Leading by 5 at half time, the Cork champions turned on the style to finish the game as 15 point victors, catching the eye was Hurler of the Year nominee Brian Hayes, scoring 3-03 from midfield. 

Leinster Hurling Championship 

St Martin’s impressed in their 10-point victory over Naas. Wexford star Rory O’Connor had a big say in the margin of victory, scoring (0-14) over the hour and securing his side safe passage to the Leinster final where they will meet Kilkenny champions Ballyhale Shamrocks. 

Ballyhale Shamrocks showed their resilience after facing a tough test from Laois champion Clough-Ballacolla. Ever reliable county star TJ Reid contributed 0-10 during the game to see his side through to the final, not without a drive from their opponents, as Laois star Willie Dunphy (0-4) took the fight to the Kilkenny champions.

Camogie 

 

Munster Camogie Championship Final 

St Finbarr’s captured their first Munster Senior Camogie title in dramatic fashion as they defeated De La Salle by 2 points. A thrilling end to the game saw the Cork side trailing as the game entered stoppage time, when Kate Wall scored a goal to snatch victory from the Waterford side. It was a fitting end for Wall, who scored 2-4 in a sensational individual performance. 

County Retirement 

Tyrone star Conor Meyler has called time on his inter-county career at the age of 31. Having struggled with injury problems in recent seasons, Meyler made the decision after working to get fit last season to make appearances off the bench. Making his debut in 2015, Meyler won 3 Ulster titles, an All-Ireland title and won an All Star in 2021. 

Former Westmeath star Kieran Martin has announced his inter-county retirement after17 years playing for his county. At age 35, Martin has been a presence for the county for nearly two decades, earning an All Star nomination along the way.
