National League Overview

Gaelic Football

Division 1

Kerry were in top form against Monaghan in Killarney, running out 14-point victors.  Both Tom O’Sullivan and David Clifford made appearances from the bench, with Clifford scoring 1-03 during his cameo.

Dublin got their second win of the campaign to edge them further from the relegation zone with a win over Roscommon who have been in fine form. After a blistering start from Dublin left them 1-11 to 0-00 down, Roscommon responded with a spirited comeback, but the mountain proved too steep to climb as the Dubs’ early surge ultimately decided the contest.

Mayo edged an entertaining clash against Armagh in Castlebar, the defining scores for the home side came through goals from Jordan Flynn and Cian McHale as they mounted pressure on top placed Donegal.

Galway looked set to end Donegal’s unbeaten league campaign before Peadar Mogan stepped up with a 2 pointer to maintain their status at the top of the league. Oisin Mac Donnacha starred with 0-07 for the Tribesmen in a spirited effort.

Division 2

Derry delivered one of the performances of the weekend, overwhelming Cork 1-31 to 0-14 in a scoring masterclass. The Oakleafers have responded from a first-round defeat to win 4 in a row and take top spot.

Louth impressed at Breffni Park with a 10-point win over Cavan. 1-04 from dangerman Ciarán Downey was key in their 3rd win of the campaign

Tyrone delivered a strong performance in their win over Offaly in Dungannon, a win they needed after a surprising defeat to Louth last weekend.

Meath stormed past Kildare 1-21 to 0-10 in a dominant Leinster derby performance in Newbridge. Jordan Morris was the standout over the contest with 1-05 in total.

Division 3

Down held off a determined Fermanagh challenge to secure a 1-18 to 1-15 win, holding their nerve in the closing stages of a competitive Ulster encounter.

Laois were in sparkling form, hitting 3-16 in a commanding victory over Westmeath. Paul Kingston made an impact off the bench, scoring 1-02 after his introduction.

Clare delivered a standout attacking display away to Limerick, running out 1-21 to 0-12 winners. Improving their challenge for promotion alongside Wexford, Westmeath and Down.

Wexford also impressed, claiming a solid 0-16 to 1-07 win over Sligo, with the table looking tighter in Division 3.

Division 4

Antrim secured a confident 2-18 to 1-14 victory over Wicklow, the Saffron’s have made it back-to-back victories after a slow start in Division 4.

London produced an eye-catching 3-16 to 2-13 win against Waterford in an entertaining, goal-filled encounter that keeps their momentum building.

Longford handed Carlow their first defeat of the season in a win that closes the gap at the top of the division.
Tipperary defeated Leitrim in an impressive 13-point victory. This win will ignite the Premier counties bid for promotion to Division 3.

Hurling

Division 1A

Galway were in top form to defeat Waterford in Salthill, talisman Cathal Mannion top scored on the day, landing 0-09.

Limerick showed their hitting their stride as it gets closer to championship preparation with an 8-point win over Offaly. With many of their star players coming back into the team they look to be getting stronger.

Cork maintained their unbeaten record in the league so far, defeating Kilkenny by 3 points at Nowlan Park. A decisive goal from substitute Alan Walsh put the contest out of reach for the Cats.

Division 1B

Kildare came out on the right side of a goal-filled thriller, defeating Down 3-24 to 1-23 in an entertaining contest. A hattrick from Cathal Dowling was crucial in claiming the points for the Lilywhites.

Dublin delivered one of the standout performances of the round, overpowering Antrim 1-31 to 1-16. With 7 different scorers throughout the contest for the Dubs, they showed a range of attacking threats.

Clare were in outstanding form at Cullen Park against Carlow, scoring an impressive 1-28 in a 13-point win. With scorers popping up all over the team, Shane Meehan impressed with 1-03 in total.

Division 2

Laois impressed on the road with a 1-23 to 0-17 victory over Westmeath. A strong all-round display, a flawless individual performance from Tomás Keyes, who landed 1-12 was pivotal in their win.

London claiming an important win away to Derry to edge themselves towards safety, while Derry face a battle to stay in Division 2.

Meath marched closer to a league final place with a 5 point win over Mayo in Toreen. A strong league campaign from the Royals continues with their recent win.

Division 3

Donegal showcased their attacking strength with a commanding 3-20 to 1-10 win over Louth. Gerard Gilmore was the standout, contributing 1-09 from midfield.

Wicklow were in ruthless form in their 5-14 to 0-07 win over Fermanagh in Aughrim. Padraig Doyle boasted an impressive personal tally of 3-06.

Tyrone and Roscommon played out an entertaining draw, Roscommon will need to pick up wins in their remaining games to challenge top placed Donegal.

Division 4

Warwickshire secured a solid 3-11 to 0-13 victory over Monaghan, with their three goals laying the foundation for a deserved win in a competitive encounter.

Leitrim put themselves in a place to compete for promotion with a 3-point victory over Cavan. Paul Mulligan was on top form, landing 0-04 from play.

Longford ran out comfortable winners over Lancashire and maintained their unbeaten record alongside Sligo at the top of Division 4.

League of Ireland

Derry City left it late to clinch the points at home to Waterford with 2 injury time goals. Michael Duffy turned the contest for his side, scoring a hattrick to bring them back after being 2-0 down.

Bohemian maintained their impressive start remaining top of the league with their win over current champions Shamrock Rovers. They were leading 3-0 but Rovers gave them as scare with 2 late goals.

Galway United got their first win of the season at home to Sligo Rovers. They will hope they can capitalise on this momentum to climb the league table.

Shelbourne also secured a valuable win, seeing off Drogheda United 2-1. This brings the Shels to 4th place after 2 draws to open their season.
