All Ireland Hurling Semi Finals

Loughrea powered into their first All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling final since 2007 with a commanding 13-point semi-final win over Slaughtneil at Parnell Park. After a tight first half, Vince Morgan’s superb 37th-minute goal proved decisive, sparking a dominant second-half display in which the Galway champions reeled off nine unanswered points to pull clear.

Tiernan Killeen was influential throughout as Loughrea backed up their favourites tag, finishing on 2-22 despite 15 wides. The victory was slightly marred late on when midfielder Cullen Killeen was shown a straight red card, a decision that the Galway side will hope to be overturned in time for the final date with Ballygunner.

Ballygunner surged into their first All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling final in four years with a dominant second-half turnaround to defeat St Martin’s by nine points at Semple Stadium. Trailing 0-08 to 0-05 early in the second half, the Waterford champions took control by scoring 14 of the next 15 points, inspired by a superb impact off the bench from teenager Mark Hartley. Dessie Hutchinson shone again for his side, putting on a man of the match display, scoring 7 points in total.

A four-time All-Star and key figure during a sustained period of provincial and national success, Burke will be viewed as one of Galway hurling’s best servants.
