GAA Kitbag Essentials

Are you giving Gaelic football a go for the first time? Is your friend dragging you back to hurling training after a year off? Or are you heading into club championship season? No matter what stage you are at, there are some GAA kitbag essentials everyone needs.

GAA Kitbag

First things first, you need a kitbag to carry your GAA essentials to training and matches. Often anything and everything can be found in a kitbag (including some not-so-pleasant smells). We have two sizes to choose from to make sure you can fit it all in, 22 inch or 25 inch GAA gear bags which are available in a wide range of colour variations. Match your club colours or choose one to stand out from the rest of your teammates. Made from a wipe-clean fabric, the exterior of the bag is easily cleaned, however, the inside is up to you!

GAA Shorts

O’Neills GAA shorts are an essential on the pitch, you can’t play a match without them. These should be the first thing you add to your GAA kitbag, they’re lightweight, sweat-wicking and flexible so you can storm up the pitch without distraction. People usually start with a pair in their club colours and the collection grows from there. Soon there is a full drawer committed to O’Neills GAA shorts in a rainbow of colours.

O’Neills shorts have become more than just GAA shorts in recent years, being spotted on famous faces and dubbed the ‘Paul Mescal shorts’. They even made their way into Vogue and American GQ. O’Neills shorts have become a fashion statement!

GAA Socks

Socks are probably the most underrated piece of equipment in your GAA kitbag. Many players prefer a white footbed which we have incorporated in our new Koolite Max GAA socks, with no need for cutting and taping. Choose between midi socks and premium socks (knee-high length) in a wide range of colours to suit your club kit. Start the game off on the right foot with some fresh GAA socks.

GAA Gloves

Heighten your grip with a pair of GAA gloves and take your game to the next level. Never let harsh weather conditions impact your performance, our GAA gloves feature a latex foam palm to provide a better grasp of the ball on wet days. Find the perfect fit by using our GAA gloves size guide to measure your hand at home.

GAA Gumshield

Mouth guard, gumshield, protector, call them what you like but ensure you have it in your GAA kitbag. Gumshields are compulsory since January 1st 2014, with every player required to wear one during matches and training sessions. Not only does a GAA gumshield protect your teeth, but they are also designed to absorb the shock from impact to prevent a jaw injury.

We all want to keep our pearly whites intact, the last thing you would like to see is your two front teeth on the grass in front of you. Protect your smile with a GAA gumshield.

Hurl

A hurl is an obvious one if you play hurling or camogie, a necessity for the game. Choosing the correct size of hurley can make all the difference to your performance, allowing you greater control over the sliotar. Use our hurl size guide to find the perfect fit for you.

Hurling Helmet

A hurling helmet is a non-negotiable for your GAA kitbag if you play hurling of camogie. Compulsory since January 1st 2010, the hurling helmet must be worn by all players during matches and training sessions. Quite simply the rule is, no helmet, no hurling.

O’Neills Koolite Hurling Helmets conform to NSAI IS:355 safety standards which is required for hurling and camogie. Our lightweight helmets feature a removable washable liner which contains Aerosilver technology for odour prevention. Find the correct fit with our hurling helmet size guide to ensure protection on the pitch.

GAA Ball or Hurling Ball

Whether you are heading for a kick about with your friends or planning some extra training, your own O’Neills GAA ball or hurling ball is a must-have. Nurture your love for the game and enhance your skills on the pitch with every touch of the ball.
