Westmeath produced one of the greatest days in their history as they stunned Dublin to claim a first Leinster title since 2004. Mark McHugh’s side played with composure and belief throughout, matching Dublin score for score before delivering a sensational finish to seal a famous victory in Croke Park. Senan Baker and the returning John Heslin made huge contributions from the bench to seal a historic victory.

Ulster Championship
Armagh finally ended their recent Ulster final heartbreak with a dramatic victory over Monaghan after extra-time in Clones. In a fiercely contested decider, Kieran McGeeney’s side found another level when it mattered most, with their experience and physicality proving decisive down the stretch. Monaghan pushed them all the way, with Stephen O’Hanlon the standout performer for Monaghan.

Tailteann Cup

Down bounced back in emphatic fashion with a commanding win over Leitrim in Newry to get their Tailteann Cup campaign up and running. From the opening stages, Down controlled the contest with their pace and attacking movement causing constant problems, while Leitrim struggled to contain the home side’s intensity. Down showed their strength in depth, with Ruairi McCormack and Eamon Brown adding 1-06 between them from the bench.

Munster Championship
Limerick finished with a flourish to secure their place in the Munster Championship knockout stages after a powerful second-half display. While their drive for the Munster final remained intact, they sealed the fate of Waterford who were eliminated from the championship.
Clare produced a hugely impressive display in Ennis to overpower Tipperary and keep their Munster ambitions firmly alive. The Banner’s intensity and sharpness in attack proved too much for Tipp as they controlled the game, youngster Diarmuid Stritch put in a memorable display in his first championship start.

Leinster Championship
Dublin claimed top spot in Leinster with a win over Galway in Salthill, Brian Hayes hit the net in injury time to seal a narrow win over the Tribesmen.

Kilkenny cruised past Kildare with a dominant attacking display that confirmed the Lilywhites’ relegation from the Leinster Championship. Kilkenny will need another big performance against Dublin to remain in the championship hunt.

Offaly kept their knockout hopes alive thanks to an impressive victory over Wexford, Eoghan Cahill was the star man for the Faithful County, scoring 1-12 in an important win.

Joe McDonagh Cup
Carlow booked their place in the Joe McDonagh Cup final after a ruthless display against London. Martin Kavanagh was unplayable, scoring 2-10 in a standout performance.
Antrim made it back-to-back wins, with a strong showing against Westmeath. Ryan McCambridge put in an incredible shift, scoring 0-5 from play to maintain his sides charge for the Joe McDonagh cup final.
Laois produced their best performance of the campaigning, defeated Down by 13 points in Portlaoise. Aaron Dunphy continued his strong run of form, scoring 3-05 in total.

Christy Ring Cup
Derry and Kerry both advanced to the Christy Ring Cup final after a dramatic showdown that went right to the wire, with Derry edging the contest by two points thanks to a late Shea Cassidy goal to send the Oakleafers to their fourth Christy Ring final in a row.
Meath overcame Donegal in an impressive performance, unfortunately just missing out on the final due to Derry’s late heroics.
Wicklow secured their Christy Ring status and condemned Roscommon to relegation with a strong performance.

Mayo powered past Louth to secure a semi-final spot after a clinical attacking display, with New York waiting in the wings to take on Mayo.

Sligo ran riot against Fermanagh in an emphatic victory, unfortunately just missing out on the semi-final place.
Tyrone booked their place in the final after a remarkable scoring performance against Armagh, hitting eight goals in a dominant win.

Lory Meagher Cup
Longford secured their place in the Lory Meagher Cup final with victory over Monaghan, while Leitrim also advanced after overcoming Cavan in Carrick-on-Shannon. Warwickshire edged a remarkable high-scoring battle against Lancashire to round off the weekend’s action.

League of Ireland Soccer

Bohemians claimed an important win over Drogheda United at Dalymount Park, with goals from Dayle Rooney and Patrick Hickey grabbing all 3 points.

Galway United got back to winning ways in emphatic style with a dominant Connacht derby victory over Sligo Rovers at the Showgrounds. Sligo responded to an early opener from Wasiri Williams through an Alex Nolan penalty, Galway took control with Jimmy Keohane restoring their lead before the break with a superb free-kick. Kris Twardek and Francely Lomboto wrapped up an impressive performance as Galway ended their six-game winless run in style.

Shelbourne edged past St Pat’s in a tense Dublin derby, grinding out a narrow victory thanks to a clinical finish from Daniel Kelly late in the contest.

Waterford and Derry City shared the spoils in an entertaining encounter at the RSC, with both sides trading momentum throughout a dramatic contest that finished level.
