This weekend sees the All Ireland camogie semi finals feature at the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick. Cork feeling unshackled take on a Galway team that hasn't fully hit its stride yet. Kilkenny meet surprise package Dublin coached by former Kilkenny hurler David Herity.
The former Cats keeper has established a growing reputation as a coach and leading the Dublin senior team to their first semi final since 1990 is a serious breakthrough. It is testament to the sound foundations at all levels in the capital with u16s, minors and Juniors all reaching All Ireland semi finals.
The Dubs have played ten games this year and despite only winning four games, they've done it when it matters. Their only win in the league was against Wexford and the Indian sign continued as they overcame the same opposition in the championship quarters.
Wins over Clare and Waterford put them into the play off stages and the breakthrough duly came about with that 1-16 to 0-14 win over the Slaneysiders.
Kilkenny are a tactically slick and powerful outfit whose system is set up to defend stoutly and release their strong attacking unit. Having got this far with confidence flying high, Dublin are very much this summer’s success story. Kilkenny won their last encounter but anything is possible.

In the Intermediate Camogie Championship Semi final double header, Meath face Kildare, and Ulster champions Derry take on the Cork intermediates this Sunday at Donaghmore Ashbourne in Meath.
The Oakleaf girls played Cork in the division two league final back at the end of April and suffered a heavy defeat 2–16 to 1-5 after only trailing by two points at the break. The Derry outfit has improved and kicked on since then with an impressive run in the championship fired by Karen Kielt and Slaughtneil’s Ní Casaide sisters. Derry always seemed to struggle against Cork at Intermediate Grade but they have a good combination of youth and experience to call upon and have shown a fine seam of form, most recently in a powerful win over Antrim.
In the league final Cork’s Rachel O’Shea scored six points and backs Lauren Callanan and Sarah Buckley were to the fore. It promises to be a tough encounter.
In the other semi, Meath secured qualification in mid July with wins over Galway, Laois and Cork and a draw with Down before a convincing win over Carlow. Kildare secured wins over Tipp, Kilkenny and Antrim and received a walkover against Wexford in what was effectively a dead rubber. They lost to group winners Derry.
