#Awaydays O’Neills Rugby League Partners All Away

Going into this weekend St Helens are ten points clear of Warrington and have won 20 out of 22 games this season  going into this weekend’s clash with London Broncos. The Catalans Dragons roar into Salford, whilst the Wolves travel to Castleford. The Giants play Hull Kingston Rovers in a Friday night tie.

Surely only a collapse of Devon Loch proportions could deprive the Saints of Shield success at this point on the run in with seven games left. Their destiny is in their own hands.

Catalans Dragons moved above Wigan to fourth in Super League with a 32-28 win on the road in Huddersfield last time out. Sam Tomkins’ hat-trick in the first half help the Dragons to a 22-12 lead at the break and boosted their Super League play-off prospects

The England full-back’s finishing was a thing to behold and although the Giants gave the Dragons a real battering in the last quarter but the men from Fartown couldn’t get ahead on the board. Much to the chagrin of coach Simon Woolford.

“We’ve got some players back and we can make some decisions on positions. We need to keep soldiering on and keep working hard and stope giving teams head starts.

When asked why they struggled to put together an 80 minute performance he added: “If you can find someone that can give me that answer I’m sure they’d be a rich man. If people could get inside the heads of rugby league players and work out what makes them tick. Apart from the Magic Weekend we’ve looked good in patches and played well in parts.

“A little bit is inconsistency with our team, the Magic Weekend was a combination of playing pretty much the same team three weeks in a row and we’ve not been able to do that. It’s not an excuse but when you’re chopping and changing your team all the time with injury and your spine’s different it’s hard to be consistent. We proved tonight for 25 minutes that we can actually play footie.”

Warrington Wolves head off to Castleford having already beaten them twice to date this year. The Wolves will be looking to Castleford native and former player Daryl Clark to lead from the from again. Clark has played 23 times this season chalking up seven tries and eight man of the match gongs. Blake Austin’s running also poses a serious attacking threat and they will rely on Mike Cooper and Chris Hill. Whilst Castleford are targeting the game to show they can perform against the top teams in Super League rugby the Wolves look to have the strength across their squad to prevail again.
