Dublin 3-in-a-row History Makers

Commemorate the Dublin GAA 3-in-row team of 2015-17. History makers, this group of players are the first Dublin team to achieve this remarkable feat in over 100 years. The 15 | 16 | 17 Dublin team will be remembered as one of the greatest Gaelic football teams ever assembled. A remarkable era with players of the highest calibre, Dean Rock, McMahon, Kilkenny, O’Sullivan, McCaffrey and led by Jim Gavin. Legends of the game, they’ve left the Dublin jersey in a better place for the generations to come.

2017 belongs to Dublin and the three in a row. Rare Auld Times!

2015 Third All Ireland in Five Years

The first leg of what was to become the 3-in-a-row, this was a third All-Ireland title success in five seasons for Dublin and the second victory over Kerry in that period, they won 0-12 to 0-09. Four points to the good at the break, Dublin had plenty in the tank as they eased to a three-point win over their greatest rivals, which in truth could have been more. Defenders Philly McMahon and Jack McCaffrey defied the defensive numbers on their jerseys as they got forward for important scores. Despite the introduction of Paul Galvin and Darren O'Sullivan Kerry couldn't close the gap and second half scores from Paul Flynn (2) and veteran sub Alan Brogan sealed the deal. For Brogan it was a fitting way to end his brilliant inter county career.

2016 Replay Wins Back-to-Back Titles

A point was all that separated the teams as Dublin retained the Sam Maguire Cup for the first time since 1977 with a 1-15 to 1-14 replay win over Mayo at Croke Park. A Lee Keegan goal and black card for the same player in the first half were pivotal moments as Mayo kept in touch.

Diarmuid Connolly fired home a penalty on 42 minutes and Bernard Brogan and Cormac Costello (2) came off the beach to grab vital scores. Heartbreak for Mayo, back to back wins for the boys in blue in a superbly resilient display.

2017 Three in a Row Secured

With title no.3 secured, Dublin cemented their place as one of, if not the greatest teams in the GAA’s history with a powerful, skilled and tough display. Ahead within a minute thanks to tyro and Tyrone slayer Con O’Callaghan, the champions endured some difficult first half minutes at the hands of Andy Moran, Jason Doherty and co. With Mayo having their homework done, Stephen Cluxton’s restarts were coming under uncharacteristic pressure forcing a second half rethink. Mayo for all their superior play held a slender margin at the break.

Behind with seven minutes to go, the Boys in Blue managed their endgame with Diarmuid Connolly's experience and Dean Rock’s composure steering them home. Full credit to manager Jim Gavin and a marvellous group of footballers that have raised the bar three years in a row. If you're a Dublin supporter, roll on 2018. It's up to the chasing pack to catch up, led heroically by Mayo. But 2017 belongs to Dublin GAA and the three in a row. Rare Auld Times!
